Company Profile

In March 2004, architecture graduates Mac Woo and June Lee created Obolo, an online patisserie specializing in the retail of gourmet whole cakes such as cheesecakes and chocolate cakes.

In June 2007, Mac and June launched Obolo’s flagship outlet, a boutique de patisserie (pastry boutique), at Joo Chiat Road to cater to the increasing demand for Obolo’s cakes. The boutique also enables Obolo’s products to be more accessible to members of the public and its existing regular customers. The range of products have since expanded to include individual sliced cakes, beverages, ice cream desserts, classic and contemporary French pastries, party favours and customized services for food gifts.

Since the launch of its outlet, Obolo and its pastries have received many accolades and notable mentions in the media and press, some of which are:

• The Straits Times 50 Best Chocolate Cakes (“Noisette”)
• Public poll by Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg for the 10 best chocolate cakes – nominee
• Public poll by Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg for the 10 best cheesecakes – joint winner
• Mediacorp Channel 8 infotainment programme “Driving Miss Foodie”

Chef-owner/ founder Mac Woo was selected as one of the pastry chefs to participate in a TV episode of Channel U’s “F&B Heroes” and was crowned the eventual winner of the challenge.
